The Inside Story

This Hills Long Day Preschool is owned by Donna Thurbon and her husband Dennis. Donna opened the doors on 24th October 1994. Being the Approved Providor for nearly 30 years, Donna works closely with the team and oversees the management of the service in collaboration with the Director and Nominated Supervisor, Victoria Vasilas. We maintain more qualified staff than the regulations demand to provide the highest level of care for children and families. The lead educators are role models and work collaboratively with other educators to deliver the best possible outcomes for children in their care. The team hold each other to the highest standard to ensure best practice is always maintained. We aim to ensure the children will be safe and secure in a caring and nurturing environment. Whilst doing so, an educational program which is based on the children’s levels of development, needs and interests is implemented within routine tasks.  A part of this educational program is our two- year school readiness program designed for children aged 3-5. The centre is also designed to be an extension of the home atmosphere. Our accredited centre is licensed for 39 children per day and provides care for children between the ages of 2 year 10 months and 6 years. Morning and Afternoon Tea are provided by the Preschool. This includes fruit/vegetables/cheese and crackers with milk and water for morning tea and fruit/vegetables with water for afternoon tea. We ask that you pack a nutritious lunch. To cater to working families, the Preschool operates between the hours of 7.45pm and 5.45pm, Monday to Friday, approximately 49 weeks of the year, closing three weeks at Christmas time.
